1960s Heuer Automatic Dress Watch

Why This Watch Matters

It is easy to forget that Heuer made some really awesome time-only watches, but we found one for you that is in NOS condition to boot.

The Full Story

In 1947, Heuer looked beyond the chronograph and turned to Adolph Schild movements to offer automatic watches. The barrel case on this example is indicative of a later production (early 1960s); its lines are really sharp, and the watch still has its original green hangtag. The crisp dial includes an interesting star symbol above 6 o'clock, for which we have not been able to find the meaning (so far). This is a truly great and unexpected vintage Heuer.

The Fine Print

What we Love and What You Should Know

Overall, the condition of this Heuer is stellar, as you can expect from a watch with its original hangtag. There are no visible scratches on the barrel case, and the dial is stunning, with a patina consistent with the handset. The engravings on the caseback are deep and sharp, but it should be noted that there is a small superficial scratch on the smooth bezel at 12 o’clock.
